As was pointed out, I'm a silly code monkey.. er, I mean, I spent a week laying down some foundation work for the website for the new
shifters site.
I'm going to try keeping a log of my progress here in hopes that it will either help keep me on track or help ensure people that work is being done, or some other vague benefit. Being a technical person, my posts will probably lean to the technical side a bit more than
shadowsmyst or
animalax would, so I probably won't be posting to the community much.
So anyways... my first week. I took a copy of PHP Object Generator and spent a couple days twisting it into something a little more useful to me. I'll post my code somewhere eventually for others to use (I'm big on open source). The short story is I made it accept a file describing multiple tables as input instead of filling out a form for a single table. Being a general framework, it's not going to be the most efficient, but it will give me a solid foundation to springboard future work from. Once things start coming together, I can look at replacing inefficient bits with more specialized code. This should make more features possible up front, with performance improving as I go, instead of being fast but featureless at launch. That's the theory, at least.
So, here's hoping
animalax can keep the munchkin distracted while I get some work done. Yay for "spare time" projects!
I'm new to Live Journal, but I can see what appears to be a message sending feature, so feel free to send me feature ideas if you've got 'em.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a skeleton to bring to life!

Since it might be useful to talk to people while working on the Shifters website... here I am.
